HOLLYWOOD GETS SPOOKED BY SCREAM FEST 2006 ~ NOW IN ITS SIXTH YEAR
October 13th through October 22nd at Grauman’s Chinese Hollywood

September 7, 2006 Hollywood, CA -Quoted as the Sundance of Horror, now celebrating its sixth year, The ScreamFest LA Horror Festival, a non-profit is the largest genre film festival held in the U.S. It’s an internationally recognized showcase for independent filmmakers and writers of the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres. The festival takes place October 13th -22nd at the world famous Grauman’s Mann Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood at the Hollywood and Highland Center.

To kick off opening night, ScreamFest will be presenting the World Premiere of David Arquette’s directorial debut film THE TRIPPER featuring cameos of both David Arquette & Courtney Cox - Arquette. Founder & Director, Rachel Belofsky of ScreamFest is thrilled to have the Arquettes involved especially because this is a true independent horror film.

As an addition on the eve of ScreamFest Oct 12th, the STARZ NETWORK will do its world premiere for the documentary “Going To Pieces” produced by Rachel Belofsky & her production company Candy Heart. The after party follows immediately at the famous Hollywood Wax Museum.

The fest holds an Award Dinner Ceremony as part of the closing night festivities. Awards are honored in the following categories; Best Director, Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Horror Short, Best Student Horror Short, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Make Up, Best Musical Score, Best Animated Horror Short & Best Horror Documentary.

Judges for the competition have included such notable names as Academy Award ™ winning special effects master, Stan Winston; Sean Cunningham (Friday The 13th, Freddy vs Jason ), director Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist); Jeff Katz creative executive at New Line Cinema; development executive Michael Grady; Alex Franklin, Director of Development of Weinstein Co. Director David Ellis (Snakes On A Plane) and David Kopple, motion picture literary agent for the Gersh Agency.

ScreamFest has been highly publicized in the media by Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, On The Boulevard, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, local news and radio stations, just to name a few.
