SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT

The 2022 CALL FOR ENTRIES is OPEN. Click HERE to submit your screenplay.

Once I enter, how will I know for sure that you received my script and payment?

Due to the high volume of submissions, we are unable to notify each individual when we receive their screenplay upload. After making your payment on Paypal you should click on the link to be redirected back to our site where you will upload your script. You will get an alert message that your screenplay was uploaded. You should also receive a confirmation email from Screamfest for your submission as well as a Paypal receipt. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive these emails.

What if I am not sure my screenplay was uploaded?

We will contact you if we cannot locate your screenplay on our server. We verify each screenplay with each completed submission.

Do I have to have a Paypal account to pay for my screenplay submission?

No you don't have to have a Paypal account to check out. You may pay with a credit card or debit card using Paypal.

How should my script be formatted?

All submissions should be in standard screenplay format, using Courier 12-point font.

What file format should I use for my script?

A pdf file uploaded by the submission deadline with a completed submission form.

When does the festival take place?

Screamfest Horror Film Festival will take place in October 2022 at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood, CA.

Do you accept fee waivers?

No

Yikes! I just found some typos in my screenplay that I submitted. Can I send you a revision?

Please proofread your script very carefully before you submit it. It takes a great deal of time to record your submitted screenplays and to distribute, read, and evaluate your scripts, so once you’ve submitted your entry we cannot accept any rewrites, revisions, or corrected pages under any circumstances.

If you have made extensive revisions, you may wish to enter a new submission of your screenplay and pay the entry fee.

Can I submit the same script I submitted last year?

Yes, screenwriters are able to submit the same script or a new draft of the same script submitted the previous year as long as it currently meets our eligibility requirements.

I submitted my screenplay for the Early Deadline and haven't heard anything?

Our extended deadline is June 15th. Due to the amount of submitted screenplays that are being read and the written requested feedback, our readers are working until the festival begins. You should receive your next email notification sometime in October near the festival dates announcing the semi-finalist on our website. If you requested feedback you will receive an email sometime after the festival ends, most likely mid November. Please check your spam folder if you are not receiving emails from Screamfest.

When will this year's Winner be announced?

This year’s notification dates are as follows:
  • SEMI-FINALISTS will be announced in October
  • FINALISTS will be announced in October
  • WINNER will be announced on the Closing Night of the Festival.

Once the Festival is over, will you send me feedback about my screenplay?

Only if you request feedback on your submission form when you submit your screenplay online.

Feedback will be emailed mid November to the email address you provided on your submission form. You do not need to contact us unless you do not receive feedback after mid November. Please check your junk folder as our mail sometimes ends up there.

Full details about screenplay requirements can be found in our Submission Guidelines.
