SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • Feature film screenplay length should be at least 75 pages and not over 130.
  • Short screenplays are not accepted.
  • Writers who submit screenplays to Screamfest will have the option to receive feedback from our readers. The feedback is very brief, generally three to five sentences outlining the strengths and weaknesses of your screenplay. The feedback option is located on the submission form.
  • You may enter your logline or paragraph synopsis on the online submission form. You do not need to include one with your pdf.
  • Please include a title/cover page with your screenplay title, author name, WGA registration number and/or copyright information. The title page will not count towards the overall script page count.
  • Screenplays can be submitted online by clicking the link above.
  • Online entrants can complete their application, make their credit card payment and upload a PDF version of their script.
  • Screenplay file names should be saved in this format: Title_Lastname.pdf
  • The online application must be completed and script uploaded by 11:59 pm (Pacific Standard Time) on the uploaded by date or your submission fee will be forfeited.
  • Entry fees are non refundable, and may be paid in the form of Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, or Discover paid in US dollars, only through a US affiliated bank. We process payments through Paypal. You do not have to have a Paypal account to make a payment. A $2.00 processing fee is included in the submission fee.
  • We strongly suggest you register your screenplay with the Writers Guild of America, West and the US Copyright Office to protect your work.


ONLINE SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

  • A complete entry includes a single copy of a screenplay in PDF format only, a completed online application form and an entry fee.
  • Add the proper screenplay submission fee to your cart.
  • You may enter your logline or paragraph synopsis on the online submission form. You do not need to include one with your pdf.
  • Once you start the check out process you will complete a submission form, be directed to the payment form where you can make your payment through credit card or your paypal account and then return to the Screamfest site to upload your pdf file.
  • IMPORTANT: After making your payment on Paypal, click on the return link if you are not automatically redirected back to the site. Submitters that pay through their Paypal account will be automatically redirected back to the Screamfest site to upload their screenplay.
  • Submitters paying through Paypal using a credit card will need to click on the return link to be directed back to the Screamfest site's payment confirmation and screenplay upload page.
  • Please add Screamfest to your address book or contact list so that any correspondence with Screamfest will not be blocked or filtered into your bulk folder. NOTE: If you do not receive an email confirmation of your order from SCREAMFEST please check your spam or junk folder. You should receive two emails: one email from Screamfest and one email from PayPal.
  • You may upload your screenplay in pdf format on the Confirmation/Screenplay Uploader page.
  • Press the submit button to complete the upload process.
  • Entrants may submit more than one screenplay into the competition, however each entry must be done separately.


IF YOU ARE A FINALIST or WINNER:

We will notify screenplay finalists in October. The winning screenplay will be announced at the festival closing night awards ceremony.

The screenplay finalists will be announced in an email sent to you from Screamfest and posted on the front page of the Screamfest website in October.

Please add our email address to your email safe senders list, address book or contact list so that any correspondence with Screamfest will not be blocked or filtered into your bulk folder.
