About the Director

John Berardo has been on the forefront of directing and producing since childhood. As a native from Norman, Oklahoma, John always had an immense drive and the ability to expand his creative boundaries. After winning a student Emmy for technical achievement in 2005 for a local public service announcement, John ventured to California to begin his career as a director. Before starting the Cinema Production MFA program at USC, John received a BA from UCLA in Theatre directing and playwriting with a minor in Film, Television, and Digital Media. At UCLA he directed such plays as A Streetcar Named Desire and Arthur Miller’s controversial After the Fall. During his time at USC, John has directed, written, and produced numerous short films and commercials for CBS, Disney, Vimeo, MTV, a fresh artist Subway webseries, and for non-profit organizations such as the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and True Spark. He has worked for and been mentored by such professionals as Jennifer Warren, Michael Taylor, and David Hoberman. In 2013 John directed a short film, Strings, produced by James Franco as party of feature anthology, The Labyrinth, set to release in 2014. After graduating USC, John started a production company, Shatterproof Films, with fellow class graduates. Shatterproof Films launched in August of 2013 by writing, directing, and producing music videos and commercials with plans for television and feature development and production.

About the Director

Will Phelps is a filmmaker from Denver, Colorado. He started making films in high school and has been busy ever since. He made several films while attending Chapman University and recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.F.A in Film Production. Will prides himself on exciting camera movement and his unique visual aesthetic. Will currently lives in Los Angeles and looks forward to a career directing commercials and music videos.

About the Director

Born in the Bronx, New York and raised in Central Florida, Samuel Gonzalez Jr. showed an interest in film at an early age. Spending most of his youth making home movies with neighborhood friends, Gonzalez never had any doubt about his path to storytelling in film.

After graduating high school and without a way to pay for film school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Immediately following Basic Combat Training, Gonzalez was deployed to Iraq, and was thrown into combat at the forefront of the war. While stationed in Baqubah, Gonzalez endured a horrific, nighttime ambush; which unfortunately resulted in the loss of his best friend. Due to his bravery and sacrifice during the attack, Gonzalez was awarded an Army Commendation Medal with Valor. Despite his loss and hardship, he grew from his experiences and began documenting his day-to-day life with video cameras sent from home. Following his return to the states, Gonzalez enrolled in the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. While there, Gonzalez developed a unique cinematic identity that caught the eye of revered Hollywood photographer, Matthew Rolston, who shortly after began mentoring him. Consequently, the mentorship led Gonzalez to many new opportunities in film, TV, and music. Notable projects include,“Two Way Street” for Grammy Award Winner, Kimbra (Warner Brother Records) and Doritos Supberbowl Challenge where Gonzalez was nominated for a Nacho Ad award. Amidst a professional shooting schedule, Gonzalez was able to shoot 22 short films and several commercials. One in particular, Novel, starring James Deen (The Canyons), led him to a Natural Born Artist award for Filmmaker of the Year. Additionally, the film called the attention of Academy Award nominee (Top Gun, The Thin Red Line), Billy Weber. Weber recognized Gonzalez’s cinematic artistry and capacity for storytelling. The partnership recently led to collaboration with acclaimed producer Ed Pressman (American Psycho, The Crow). The three are currently in developing Gonzalez’s Madison Avenue, his personal account of survival during the Iraq War. Gonzalez graduated from Art Center College of Design in August 2013 and joins other recognizable alumni such as Michael Bay, Zach Snyder, and Tarsem Singh.

About the Director

Kayoko Asakura was born and raised in Japan. She started filming while in Tokyo Zokei University. After some years '92 work in TV production, she got in the Film School of Tokyo. She has directed many short films and TV drama including Furoagari-no-Onna/Don't Peep (2010) which was a viral video for a Japanese feature film Kyofu directed by Hiroshi Takahashi as known as the writer at Ring. Don't Peep has been viewed over 2,000,000 times on Youtube since 2010. Then she made her feature film directing debut with her own screenplay, It's a Beautiful Day (2013), starring Kim Kkobbi (Breathless : honered Rotterdam International Film Festival 2007), and Akihiro Kitamura (Human Centipede). Thisfilm was officially selected at Yubari Fantastic Film Festival, MOTELx, Bram Stoker film festival. HIDE and SEEK (2013) is her newest short film. It has been officially selected at Short Film Corner in Cannes court metrage, Hollyshorts, Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival and more.

About the Director

Dan Jagels Born and raised in Pasadena, California, Dan has been passionate about film since a young age. He began acting in theatre productions at the age of 10 and his enthusiasm for acting later brought on his desire for filmmaking. In high school, Dan began producing and directing his own films and enrolled in the New York Film Academy. He won a film contest scholarship and later graduated from the Film Production Program at Cal State Northridge. In his professional career, Dan works in many parts of film production, but mainly focuses on Directing and Cinematography. During college, Dan worked on a few projects for the horror film production company Ghost House Pictures and immediately fell in love with the genre. He then directed his first horror short, titled "Nightmares", which received praised reviews and distribution. Since then, Dan has worked for a variety of production companies, shooting projects for a wide range of media platforms, but still holds a strong passion for the horror genre. Dan's most recent horror short, "Thirteen", an H2 Crew Production, is an Official Selection of the 2013 ScreamFEST Horror Film Festival, the Fright Night Horror Film Festival and the San Diego Film Festival.

Richard (Rick) Greenwood Jr is a writer/director/producer/cinematographer who earned his MFA degree in filmmaking from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles CA in December 2010.  Rick was born and raised in upstate New York and came from a hard working background which not only breeds a great work ethic and determination in him and his  work, but the appreciation and value in all he sought s after and obtains.  He received his BFA in Fine Art from the University at Albany in 2008 before moving to Los Angeles in 2009 to attend grad school and begin his life in filmmaking. With great visual esthetics, strong story telling and deep characters grounded in everyday hardships, Rickʼs films explore the dark places of the mind and society but through strong characters hope is still found in tragedy and loss. Hinnon Valley is Rickʼs breakout film which has earned “official selection” at some 24+ festivals and won ten awards to date. Char Hardin film reviewer for Horrorphilia.com gave the film a 5 out of 5 and listed it as one of the top 15 best short  horror films of 2011, while Gruesome Hertzogg gave it a 9 out of 10. Hinnon Valley has since been distributed worldwide by Shorts International and has been in regular rotation on DirecTV. Currently, Rick’s feature script Lost the Night has been “optioned” by Therapy Studios and he is attached to direct the film once funding is secured. His story “The Grid” co-written with The Wretched Prologue writer Collin Watts, is undergoing funding campaigning at the moment as well. Rick’s current film The Wretched Prologue, which is a short film meant to invoke and inspire interest in the feature script of the same title. Writer Collin Watts challenges us with a brand new take on the classic Roman genre film, by thrusting it into the realm of horror and introducing us to the TRUE reason behind the Bubonic Plague...the walking dead! The Wretched Prologue will be honored by making it’s American debut at the prestigious Screamfest LA film Festival in October 2013.

About the Director

After years of working under Stan Winston, the godfather of special effects, known for everything from Aliens to Terminator to Avatar, Tom Woodruff Jr. partnered with Alec Gillis to create Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. in the late 1980’s. Their first film was Tremors, followed by David Fincher’s sequel, Alien 3. ADI quickly grew to become one of the major character effects companies in the business today, with their work gathering numerous accolades and awards including an Academy Award for Death Becomes Her and multiple Academy Award nominations for Starship Troopers and Alien 3. Tom also played the demon “Rufus” in the January 2011 footage of Fire City: A Demon In The Darkness, and is looking forward to helming its prequel, The Interpreter Of Signs.
