Before she started her bachelor studies in Switzerland, Xheni Alushi (1991) worked for a project office at the Albanian ministry of culture. She came about film when she worked on short film productions at the Academy of the Arts in Tirana, Albania. She loves to write short stories. The script for EVA is developed out of one of these stories.
After initially gaining extensive experience in film and television production, Alex Coleman, a 2008 graduate from York University's Film Program and the creative force behind True Play Productions, went on to produce and/or create/direct/edit a broad mix of local, national and internationally released film, music video and corporate/commercial projects.
After over ten years directing corporate advertising films, the time had come to embark on some personal projects. First, I directed two documentaries profiling artists whose ultimate craft is to shape and color our emotions and dreams. It was the success of both films on the festival circuit that gave me the confidence to direct Distortion. This project, though ambitious, is simply the fulfillment of a lifelong passion for genre film. To create the atmosphere of Distortion, I watched hundreds of films and took note of all the particular thrills and jolts that imbue genre film with its unique power to captivate viewers. Jarno Lee Vinsencius is an award-winning writer/director/cinematographer/producer. Born and raised in Sweden, Jarno Lee Vinsencius began his passion for filmmaking when his Indonesian father brought home a Super 8mm projector. Jarno's first movie he experienced was the original King Kong from 1933, a 20-min version. He was then mesmerized by the magical world of motion pictures when Star Wars was introduced 1977. In the late 90's J.L.V. moved to the United States where he attended film school. Today Jarno Lee Vinsencius runs his own production company called JLV Pictures. He has written, directed and produced several successful short films, TV-series and music videos which have earned him over 80 international film awards.
Olga Osorio. Director, writer, editor and producer of Mouras. Her first short fiction film, reStart (2015), was in the official selection of the Sitges Film Festival and featured at international film festivals, including Fantasia in Montreal, PIFFF in Paris, Les Utopiales in Nantes and BIFFF in Brussels and received a Vimeo Staff Pick Badge. Her second film, Einstein-Rosen (2016) won 64 awards and has been selected in more than 200 festivals, including Seattle IFFF (Best of Fest), Rhode Island Film Festival (Kidseye Prize), New York International Children Film Festival (Best of Fest), Sitges, Palm Springs, Leeds, etc. and selected of Short of the Week. Mouras was selected as a project for EuroConnection in Clermont-Ferrand.
Nick was born and raised in Long Island, New York. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Film. For his senior thesis film, he wrote and directed his first feature length film "Behind Closed Doors." In the summer of 2015, he moved to Los Angeles. His cross country road trip to LA with his best friends was pure inspiration for the feature length version of Waterloo. After completing the feature screenplay, and with the overwhelming support from friends and family, he was able to create a proof of concept, which showcases the opening of the feature: Waterloo.
Dean W Law is an emerging Australian director of sexually charged genre cinema, as well as one half of a husband and wife writing team with Brazilian-American writer, Katherine Chediak Putnam. The couple’s films attempt to distill the struggle between the masculine and the feminine into tightly plotted pulp entertainment. Dean teaches at Griffith Film School in Australia, and has created content for national and international brands including Disney Theatrical and the University of Queensland.
Sean was born and raised in the Chicago suburb of Western Springs, Illinois where his passions were playing sports, watching movies and eating candy. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he wrote his first two feature-length screenplays. After moving out to Los Angeles, Sean realized he wanted to bring his writing to life, so he picked up a camera and began making short films. Being a huge fan of autumn and Halloween, Sean enjoyed capturing both in his film, THE CONVERTED.
Dimitri Kanjuka was born in 1987 in the East of Ukraine. He was brought to the film by his friend Alexandr, who died in 2012 at just 33 years of illness called muscle dystrophy. Since young age Dimitri watched sci-fi and horror films like The Terminator, The Nightmare on Elm Street, The Aliens, etc. At the age of 10 he moved to the Czech Republic and in the fifth grade he directed his first short story. That was the moment when he decided to be a director.
